    Remembering 9/11

I was working at JPMorgan Chase that summer, 2 blocks away from Ground Zero. I was scheduled to start my official new job with them on 9/12/01, so my summer manager said that I should stop working on 9/10 and take 9/11 off. I was fortunate to have been spared being downtown on that day. I...

    Detailed schedule for FALL 2006

Ahhhh - I was going to say, it would be hilarious if there was an official portion of the Baruch website that rated courses in that way.

Wed, 9/6 is a Monday schedule for us too

According to the Professor Stefanica, on Wednesday, 9/6, we should follow a Monday schedule. That means we have Object Oriented Programming instead of Numeric Linear Algebra. He also said that in general, we would follow any class schedule changes as per the regular Baruch calendar.

    Any IPOD guru out there?

The WSJ had an article today about how SanDisk is coming out with a competitively priced flash memory based MP3 player that will have 8GB of memory. Again, even if the device itself is great, it all depends on how easy it is to use and how it interacts will music and other files.

    Any IPOD guru out there?

Also, keep in mind that the larger Ipods (30 and 60 GB) use hard drives. sometimes these are susceptible to damage if you use them while moving a lot. I dont know about the video ones, but the Ipod Mini would always have this problem of easily damaged hard drive. i like the nano bc it is...

If You Know Options, You're Likely to Know Stocks

Very interesting - I wonder if this would work in practice. $600/month is not a big investment considering the potential with this strategy. Usually, if a strategy like this works in practice, all of the institutional investors take advantage of it until there is no longer an advantage to be...

What are your thoughts on the Refresher courses thus far?

My thoughts on probability: tough and somewhat abstract material. More enjoyable when we used the math to solve actual financial problems. I would have preferred that the TA provided optimal solutions to the HW like in Advanced Calc. The class is valuable because it is a wake-up call...

I try to read Economist (I've read several blurbs that claim it is the best written periodical in the world, the most informative, the standard for businesspeople across thr world, etc.) - but I just find it so dense and boring. My Dad gets it, so I pick it up every week and if I have a chance...

Financial Times is another great paper - it is probably considered the best for international financial news and one of the best overall. There are many papers, magazines, online journals, etc....so much to read and so little time!

    Barrons Student Discount

Sometimes I try and post articles from Barron's on the Forum because I really believe that this paper is incredibly insightful and important for students of finance (and mathematics of finance!) to read. But as I was reading it this weekend (a weekend ritual which I enjoy immensely) I was...
