Hello Andy.I have sent you an inbox concerning Financial Engineering.Kindly revert back with you advise. Thanks
Hello, Andy. I really need some professional advice from you. I am going to the college as undergrad next year and not sure which major best prepares me for being a quant? I know it requires tons of math and programming skills. I am just wondering if applied math+Computer science would be a good option? Thank you in advance.
    Hi Andy
I have got admits from Rutgers MQF program and NYU-Poly. Please suggest me which one do you find better?
I could not find the ranking of NYU-Poly. However it has better location. On the other hand, Rutgers has good ranking but is pretty expensive.
Please suggest me amongst these. Thanks
    Hey Andy,
Can u please suggest me whether I should do MFE from UMICH as I hav got an admit from them or should I wait for a year and apply again......

    Thanx...
    hi andy,
i hav admits from CGU(MSFE) and IIT,Chicago(m.s Finance). can u suggest me for which univ i shud go for..im really confused.
Andy, I've been admitted to the NYU-Poly MSFE program. Heard that several former Poly students reapplied for several TOP MFE programs during their first year there, and some of them succeeded. What's your take on reapplying? Do I stand a chance if I finish the first semester courses in Poly? Any advices or suggestions?

Unless you get 4.0 GPA in the first semester and get glowing recommendations, the fact that you didn't get in TOP program the last time is always something on their mind. And not to mention you will waste time and money restudying most of the materials. Take this into account and plan a good path.
Hi Andy, could you please add USC MS Financial Engineering and USC MS Mathematical Finance to the tracker? Thank you!

Hi Andy, I am struggling between Cornell and CMU right now. My future plan (at least for now) is to work as a trader for 2 or 3 years after graduate from the program, and then apply a finance phd or go for some VC/PE job. I am looking for a program that can best fit in with my career plan. So do you have any advice for me? thanks!!!

i just did that...670+800, 3.6+, math bs+econ ba, 30+ undergrad in the us...

Do you have any relevant finance work experience in the US? If not, it's close to impossible to become trader right off school. Best scenario would be to obtain a FO role on a trading desk and work your way up the ladder.

    i see...thanks for replying!
Hi, Andy, just a notice or fresh information for quantnet tracker. Oklahoma State University has a Master of Quantitative Financial Economics including three tracks: Financial Engineering, CFA and FRM. Maybe you can add the program in the application tracker.
By the way, I spent 20 days in Vietnam last winter, especially in HCMC, Hanoi, Dalat, Nhatrang. I love those places!

Yeah, great seafood. Still I can remember every detail that I ate seafood in Dalat with Pacific Ocean nearby

thank you very much for your time and a quick reply. I am working on SQL when i done with it, i will try C++. However can you clarify among financial analyst, Quantitative analyst, mathematical finance and financial engineering. Are they the same or at least they will meet each others at some point. can one become a Quant by follow either of them?

thank for very much. can't believe that such a busy guy like you have time to answer my questions that fast :). then i won't bother you no more. Thank again. i really appreciate your help.
Hi andy, Can u tell me by when can we expect the new ranking

These processes take months to complete so we hope to get it as soon as possible. We will try to release them earlier than our 2009 ranking

I hope the model is not designed in such a way that baruch lands up in top 3 programs...Its just a personal opinion...I have talked to few of my relatives who are ibankers the seem to have the opinion that baruch is over-rated in quantnet ranking..

Why would you believe that we design a model to put any program in a top 3? That is beyond false.
