Hello, I hope you are doing well. I just graduated college and got a job as a software engineer in New York. I'm thinking about doing the Baruch MFE program Part-Time, mainly because I can't afford to quit working and because the company will be sponsoring my h1b and then my green card, so I'd like to kill two birds with one stone; however, I'm also considering just waiting and doing the program full time so that I have time to do an internship. I guess what I'd like to is if as a part time student I'll get the same shots as a full time student when hunting quant jobs.

Best,
AJB

Baruch MFE partime is the right move in your case. There is no distinction between part-time or full-time as far as career services and job opportunities in their program.
You will take the same classes and have the same access as FT students.

What about the lack of internships?

Thanks! Do you know how I can meet the finance prerequisite for the program? Can I take the class at a community college or a course online?

Hi Andy! Do you know how I can meet the finance prerequisite for the program? Can I take the class at a community college or a course online?

I am also interested in the program, how is the part time structured in terms of weekly time commitment? Also can it be take online as I don’t live in NY?

I'd also be interested to hear more about the schedule and time commitment for the part-time program.

They were briefly mentioned earlier in the thread, but how do internships factor in with part-time? It doesn't seem like Baruch has a required internship (like CMU, for example), but I imagine internships would still be crucial for someone changing from a non-finance field like tech.

Part-time students typically take two courses a semester and the time commitment should be about 20-30 hours a week.

Part-time students receive career help to make the desired career move without doing internships.

Just to clarify, when you say “part-time,” you don’t mean the program is online. Student still have to be in NY, it’s just that your schedule is different from full-time students?

And even if you’re coming from a completely different background in finance and want to transition into QR/QD/QT-type role, that is still supported as in Baruch provides the same level of career help for part-time students as for full-time ones, just without the internship is that right?

Yes and yes.
