C++ Online Certificate Students' intro thread

Hi, my name is Pat, and I'm here to get started with c++ and see where I can apply it. I'm mid-career and unlikely to pursue an MFE at this stage, but I think this course may prove valuable to my current role.

Objective: Build a foundation for my C++ development at work, and in future hobby/entrepreneurial pursuits. Begin doing more research-oriented projects at work
Programming Experience: Python (intermediate at best; self-taught); SQL (basic read-only queries and joins at work)
Current Work: Risk Management at a quant shop
Intended Pace: TBD, but most likely the full 16 weeks
