Finally CMU is sending out interview invitations for Fall 2014 batch.

A slight change from previous year is that the span of interview is 30 mins.

Will there possibly have different form of interview?

Did they actually mention that there will be a change in the length of interviews?

Does anyone have information about how the interviews went in the past? Should we expect linear algebra/ calc/programming problems? Or are they trying to get to know us?

In general, the interview is not technical. You just need to be clear on why you are applying to the program.

Thanks
Babinu

Ok, thank you. I am very capable at doing that so your words are comforting. I wonder, do you (or anyone else) know what percentage of interviewed students are retained? Is this a stage where many are weeded out or is that mostly done with applications?

Also, babinu, I hope you don't mind me asking, are you a student there? Where did you get your information?

The interview this year has been extended to 30 mins.
Does anybody has finished the interview already? Any hints on the interview?

Yes, @cab I just graduated this December from the Pittsburgh campus

The biggest hint is who will be your interviewer. In the past, Rick Bryant (the Director), Gwen (admission) and other administrative staff conducted the interview so it's mostly fit/personal/English skill. If they let alumni to conduct the interview this year, everything is fair game but it's usually everything on your resume is the biggest thing they will focus on.

Hi Andy, I think this time the invitation does not explicitly specify who the interview will be. So I guess a comprehensive preparation will be needed.

Has anyone got the interview invite already for Round 1. I haven't received it yet so I am counting a rejection for me :(

Yes. It's been around 1-2 weeks since they've started sending out interview invites.
