What kinds of internship are considered competitive during application? I have a few internships in financial analyst in big five banks in Canada. Is it considered competitive? Thanks!

Quant related is considered the best, but there are a wide variety of internships considered 'competitive.' FAANG, or data sci/ML, and a ton of other areas.
Your banking internships are good, finance experience is handy and it is known that quant work is harder to come by. From what I can tell, not having quant work is not really a negative. It's just really helpful if you CAN get it beforehand. Almost no internship will give you and instant admit. Internships are helpful, but they don't appear to be the thing that will make or break your application.

So, yes, competitive (but not a golden ticket).

Competitive relative to what? If you're aiming for a QR/QT role at a top shop then probably not, if you're aiming for a FO role at a bank then it's probably okay, if you're aiming for a more middle office role like model vetting or risk then it's probably decent.
