I am considering a fundamental analyst role at one of the elite quant shops (think Jane Street / Citadel / Virtu). I am told that these roles involve very quick fundamental analysis of world events to inform decisions by traders. I have a very good fundamental background and am not a quant, but I am being seriously considered for one of these roles.

What are these roles like?
Would the traders even listen to what I say? Or am I considered an accessory that is not totally needed?
What does comp trajectory look like in 3, 5 and 10 years?
If it doesn't work out, what are the exit opportunities?
