Newbie question

Sorry if the wording here is a bit confusing. I am wondering why if for Ex. 1 CAD = 0.79 USD, but then it takes 1.25 CAD to buy 1 USD. Why is there a difference of over 5 cents from converting USD to CAD which is not the case when transferring CAD to USD?

I've never seen it quoted at less than four decimal places.
