NYU MSMF NYU yield rate is only about 50%?

I heard from an NYU alumnus that last year NYU sent out ˜70 ADs but only ˜40 registered. I just do not understand why, since NYU is top choice for most ppl.
 
yeah, agree, just don't understand why they insist on that.
 
Thats A pity for NYU. its quite late processing timeline makes it lose many excellent applicants.
I don't know if that is the case. IMHO, they are trying to get those people that really really want to go to NYU.

What is the alternative?
NYU does not have rolling admission so decisions come long after deadline regardless of how early you apply. They can move up the deadline but then people would wait for other programs that have results later. It's a circular argument.
If NYU MSFM is someone's #1 choice, they will have to wait for it.
