Hi guys, I have been accepted to both columbia and oxford and was wondering what the best program is if the goal is to work at a hedge fund after graduation :))

Hi, first of all, congrats, both are perfect programs. You need to first think about in which country you want to work. Secondly, Columbia's program is perfect in terms of reputation and it is very well known in the industry. Oxford's program seems focusing on theory rather than application, so if you are already good at codding and have relevant work/internship experiences, I believe you can pick Oxford, otherwise Columbia is better. By the way, if you don't mind, when you received your offer for Oxford? Did you get interviewed? Thanks

I also got the offer for Oxford today, no interview, application submitted a week before deadline. No GMAT, No GRE, BSc in Maths/Stats from UK uni, applying out of industry (as a Tech analyst at big UK bank though, no quant or finance relevant work)

Congrats. I have also applied to oxford, but didn't receive my decision yet... I think it means rejection....

I mean, have you had an interview? because my understanding is that it is more common to have one in order to be offered than to not have one. So they may be coming to you with an interview offer if you haven't had one yet - stay ready!

Thank you. Yes, as far as I understand the majority of the class will be interviewed. I didn't receive interview request yet, but I am not hopeful to receive one, since I am Economics & Operational Research major, they admit math/stat/physics majors 99% of the time, and rarely econ majors...

Got the offer today – no interview, which was surprising :P

Do you mind sharing your profile? What is your major?
Sure . I am a 3rd year undegrad in UK university, pursuing a bachelor's in Financial Mathematics and Statistics. 3 non-quant internships and a few quant-related projects. Please send me a message if you want more info :P

I got an offer from Oxford MCF as well and I'm still waiting for Oxford Financial Economics. Any thought on the comparison between those two?

Probably depends on your career goals. The MCF for quant and the Financial Economics for IB and less quanty jobs

Hello! Congrats on your admission its great! Have you applied way before the deadline? Thank you!

thanks! I applied pretty close to the deadline for both programs (priority deadline for columbia though, If I remember correctly they had two deadlines or something)

I personally think that they admitted the top candidates (especially the ones with solid math/stat background) already and right now they are choosing between the rest and most probably shortlisted candidates will be interviewed and admitted.

Yes probably(although i have a MSc in statistics with a high gpa) I applied to the MCF of Oxford on the deadline day but havent heard yet! Hope we will hear abt it soon! Best of luck!
