Is the Phd in Financial Economics of CMU just the more advanced MFE Program? What is the difference between Financial Economics and Financial Engineering?
From the curriculum, I see that a couple of courses are relevant to an MFE program. Core direction seems to be econometrics and microeconomics.
Econometrics is useful in financial modeling and it builds a strong statistical foundation that you can apply for calibration or data analysis. Good skill to have. http://www.tepper.cmu.edu/doctoral-...hd-in-financial-economics--courses/index.aspx
