Hi, I am hoping to apply to MFE for the upcoming cycle and was wondering what programs are good and realistic based on my current stats. I am also international student:

Education & Coursework

  • Pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science & Engineering and double majoring with Financial Mathematics at The Ohio State University (OSU), expected graduation in May 2026.
  • Current GPA: 4.0
  • Specialization: Artificial Intelligence
Relevant Coursework:
Intro financial math, financial economies, ODE, Applied PDEs, Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, Mathematical Statistics, Python, C++, data structures, intro ai, machine learning, neural networks

Research & Technical Experience

Economic policy optimization Research (OSU)

  • Working on building multi-output predictive models for macroeconomic indicators.
  • Experience with Random Forests, surrogate modeling, hyperparameter optimization, and time-series evaluation metrics (R²/RMSE, residual diagnostics).

AI & Bioacoustics Research

  • Developing probabilistic wildlife audio-classification models using transformer embeddings and gradient-boosting methods.
  • Exposure to signal processing techniques (MFCCs, DTW, spectrogram analysis) and uncertainty-aware classification.

Data Infrastructure Research (OSU)

  • Improving data-ingestion pipelines for large scientific datasets (HDF5), optimizing validation, and reducing processing errors across heterogeneous source

AI & Medical imaging

  • Worked with. prof on developing ai medical imaging tool for cancer research

the basic needs of an application seemed to have all been met. It probably just comes down to SoPs and the supplementary work.
tysm! I was just worried about the lack of solid work ex, as all the work ex I have are research roles at uni and not quant finance related
also what do you mean by the supplementary work, and how would u suggest to stand out in them?
