Hi,
Just a little background about myself: I did my undergrad in engineering and has been working at a fintech company for about two years. My role is web application development so it is not completely relevant. I would like to become a quant developer but feel like I am lacking the financial background to do the switch.

My undergrad is BA in Applied Science, major in computer engineering.
I am applying for a master program in statistics. The grad courses should cover some math and applied stat like stochastic calc, applied probability in mathematical finance
I have also taken the CFA exam. Programming skills wise I am comfortable with Python and SQL, haven't touched C++ since graduated but should be able to pick it up.

What do you think that I should improve? Would the stat master help or shall I apply for something more quant related?
Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

I have been talking to many quants recently for my desk and i have to say that most of them are very well rounded. Strong math, programming and good knowledge of finance. I think all these MFE degrees have changed teh game a bit. Many phDs with MFE's in hte market.

It depends on what kind of quant you want to be I suppose. But for a front office desk quant there are many Phds with MFE available. Quant developer, you dont need to know as much about finance.

Try applying for some jobs or recruiters and see what they want. I think with your background you might be able to get some calls for interviews and you can assess where to go from there.
