I'm considering getting a phd in the future and curious what everyone's opinion is on whether I should pursue a phd in finance, mathematics or statistics (relating to getting a quant job).

I want to pursue a phd regardless so don't think I'm doing this for the sole purpose of getting a quant job. I'm slightly attracted to statistics because I hear it has wide applications in many other businesses, making getting a job easier. Also many quant job ads call for a phd in a quantitative subject (very few list finance in that category).

Thanks in advance.
