Looking for ways to compare and contrast firms heavy in the market research category, and what tend to just be called banks. This is your State Street, Franklin Templetons, Invesco, T. Rowe, and Moody's (I think), versus your UBS, Credit Suisse, Goldman. The first group write, seek, design, sell information, insight, high-level reporting, and ratings. They are employed in large part by the 2nd group, and by huge institutional investors. With the goal of breaking into Quant in mind, would something like equity research in general, or for specific investors be a better early, mid, or late career sort of place, and why? (Poll is for the start, but curious about middle and end as well as the components you are using to compare them).
