Very good article. However, I was wondering about number 7 which said:
"You disclosed your plan of doing PhD after MFE".
Why is this such a bad thing to do and why will it hinder your chances at getting in?
Interesting Article. The guy basically says that Goldman (and other banks) are responsible for world hunger and jacking up the prices of certain commodities.
Do you guys agree with this? Do they actually have enough market power to drive the world into starvation?

There's a lot of housing near Concordia University and it's generally cheaper than similar housing near McGill (due to the fact that it's located a little further from the center of downtown, amongst other things).

Thanks for the help. It seems to me as though a lot of people are against getting a PhD. I'm currently working on a research project with a prof and I find it fascinating which is why I was originally thinking of going into research.
However, I also very much enjoy the practical applications...
I feel like I would want to do a PhD because I feel drawn towards research. The idea of doing original work is something that fascinates me. However, once all that is done, I would still like to be able to get a job doing something other than teaching.

Hmm...That's an interesting thought. Do the schools with better PHD programs differ from the ones with good Master programs or are they generally the same?
Also, would it be odd to then do a masters after the PHD?
