  1. Singapore hedge fund vs Wall Street aspirations

You are still in college, why the rush? NY and Wall St. is still gonna be there waiting for you man. If I were you I'd take the offer (even though Singapore is tiny and boring :P), work hard for a few years then maybe go to NY for grad school or another job. Win-win?
  2. 2011 Advanced Risk Portfolio Management (ARPM) Bootcamp by Attilio Meucci

I'm gonna be there. Study group? PS: Thanks Quantnet for partner rate btw!
  3. R Finance 2011: Chicago April 29th & 30th

Stupid AA delayed my flight last night. I'm gonna run probably 30 mins late for the workshop >.< and that's was pretty much why I wanted to go. fml
  4. Which phone are you using?

Anyone else waiting for WP7 (phone HTC HD7) like myself? :D
  5. Sharing admission essays

Just offer to help them work on it, and proofread etc. You do not have to let them see your essays. They should understand that!
  6. Getting raw real-time option data

I have a project that requires real-time options prices (screening and then do other stuff). The services that I have found so far seem to show and update prices in their applications only. I will probably need to subscribe to some of these (those having try-it-free) to find out more. Does...
  7. "MFE program profile evaluation" master thread

Andy, why do you think GRE Quant so important? It's just general math and doesn't say much (IMO). He has a not so great GPA but has done a lot of research, has some published papers, and work experience. That's pretty impressive :D
  8. Advice for Ph.D student in Finance

    Uhmm... Math? :D
  9. Undergrad Course Planning for MFE suggestion

Man, I don't know how "l33t" you are but it's so weird that you plan to take just "intro to computer programming" then "artificial intelligence". There are usually a sequence of 2-3 programming classes (Intro 1 2 3, or Data Structures) and then Algorithms... It basically takes 2 years for...
  10. Undergrad Advice

The complete Calculus sequence (basically, you want to study up to Green's and Stoke's theorem, etc.) Linear Algebra (is very different from College Algebra) (Applied or Theoretical, hmm) [this is exactly how people go 'wtf? you study 'Algebra' in a math graduate program?' haha] Real Analysis...
  11. DE Shaw interview questions

    Yeah I think it'd make more sense if the question was a = 69 mod 935 = r mod 38 (r some integer like 69), find a.
  12. Quantitative Interview questions and answers

Funnnn indeed. 3) The fly flies a total \(\frac{50}{10+15}=2\) hours. So (2*100=200) mi. Even better, can anyone set up the time series for this problem? :wall
  13. Quantitative Interview questions and answers

I'm not sure if anyone did this way yet. Suppose the sqrt exists, then: (a^2=2+a) (a^2-a-2=0) ((a-2)(a+1)=0) Thus a=2 (sqrt >= 0) Great topic, guys! This is my first post btw.
