The community development can be better. Sometimes, it is really hard to find classmates learning the same materials. I feel like that everyone else have moved on and only I am left behind. Peer learning can be more interesting.
Overall, I really learned a lot. It was quite challenging to juggle C++ with two internships, but I somehow managed to pull through with no previous C++ background. I made progress that I wouldn't have thought possible in 30 days. The HW was extremely useful, so were the TAs. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone aiming to gain some working C++ knowledge!
The TAs and forums are super helpful, and the course is well structured. It would have taken me a lot longer to get to this level on my own without as much direction!
I think the course is already very good. If the quiz can have analysis, it will be better. Sometimes I didn't understand it thoroughly.
A very big progress for me. Now I feel much more confident. Tasks and exam showed strengths and weakness on which I will now focus. Thank you for this course!
This is a very useful course. I learn so many things during the course containing basic c++ knowledge and its application for computational finance. The professor and TA are very kind to answer related questions.
It is very helpful. I like the options part a lot, and I wish there were more about excels since it is very useful. This is the best online course I've ever taken in the way the TAs are always online and very helpful. The finals stressed me out a little bit 😁 since I'm more used to lay back and relax to debug the code, but that's fine.
I am taking this course to learn more about C++ and preparing for my application for the masters in financial engineering. I found this course harder than I think that I spent tons of hours to learn coding. It is a very challenging course as an online course, but I do learn a lot from it. Also thanks very much for the assistance from TAs. They are very helpful.
This course is excellent for c++ beginners who not only want to code and make their code compile, but also attempt to code elegantly. Forum and teaching assistants are very helpful and responsive.
Yes.
The materials for the course is good. ( more written materials/dicussion should be given towards the last few chapters)
TA Avi Palley is exceptional !!
I had some programming background (in C++ as well), so I may not have been able to take advantage of everything as much as someone who was completely fresh and new. However, the various, new perspectives taught in the course was very helpful. In addition, I think the concepts covered were very important topics (pointers, memory management, STL, Boost, applications in FE, etc.) and something that is overlooked in most other C++ programming books/courses. I think this class covered these important CS topics as well as C++ specific topics quite well.
The course material covered a lot of useful topics and I learned more than I had hoped for before starting the course. The exercises were a helpful tool to assimilate the material and remember it.
This course is well-designed, friendly to learn, flexible to manage your time and has enriched contents combining C++ and Financial Engineering. I really enjoyed C++ learning through the vivid course video made by Duffy ( those figures he draws is clear and funny) and the patient help of my TA, APalley. This course has met my original goal of learning C++ since I can understand the hard knowledge step by step by taking homework and quizzes. Thanks for Quantnet's help and I'll continue my journey of C++.
This is a great course. The videos and the homework is very helpful for my improving coding ability. Plus, the best part of this course is the forum. It certainly facilitates communication on some consistent questions. It meets my original goal for taking this C++ course.
The course offers an opportunity to let me feel the power of C++ in real life.

It meets my goal for laying a foundation for c++.
This is an excellent for the beginner for c++ like me. My director @APally is really responsible and he helps me a lot.
Of course, I meet my original goal for taking this C++ course.
Thank you very much.
It is really impressive that this course covers a lot of basic C++ knowledge including basic syntax, classes as well as libraries and financial engineering applications. It really exceeded my expectation and I have learned a lot throughout this course.
This is a really helpful course, especially for students like me who have zero programming backgrounds. My original goal for taking this course is to make myself equipped with the basic ability of programming in C++ to get better prepared for my future career in financial engineering, to make myself more competitive in applying for MFE after getting bachelor degree. Fortunately, I manage to get this certificate with the help of my TA @APalley and many helpful and nice friends in the forum~
The quality of this course is pretty good. It meets my need of geting a provement of programming so that Icould apply for graduate school in Financial Engineering major.
The course exceeded my expectations in many ways. The course material and structure was well organized, and the lectures from Dr. Duffy were clear and concise. My assigned TA, Avi, was extremely responsive and knowledgeable. Integrating the course with the QuantNet community made it such that any question I could field was always met with great feedback.

My original goal for taking the course was to ensure that my programming skills were on par for the quantitative finance program I was entering. Given the depth of knowledge and expertise afforded to me by the course, I am confident that I have met this goal. I am now looking forward to building on the content of the course.
