This course indeed gives me a detailed overview of the essentials of C++ and give me an introduction of how C ++ can be applied to quantitative finance. Really a good course.
Great course, met my learning goals.
This course gives me the fundamental concept of c++ which helps me understand the use of c++ for computational financial application. The quality of the materials and course is well written and easy to understand for c++ beginner.
Overall it's a very nice experience to learn c++ on QuantNet. The TA's are always ready to help and the discussions are insightful. The course materials are informative and easy to understand.
the lecture video may switch to more recent windows version.
The course is very good and can meet my initial needs. But the content of the teacher's class is slightly faster, and sometimes it can't meet the requirements of novices. I hope the teacher can explain the relevant content a little more detailed
I think the homework helps a lot, and the tutor's comments are very detailed, but the content of the course materials is too concise. Although the course gives many reference books, it is not easy to extract effective information from these books. If you want to complete the work, you need to find a lot of information online. Anyway, I still learned a lot from this course.
The course generally is very good meets my expectation.
the course contents are very well designed to help introduce C++ to a beginner. 9 Levels of study material is carefully structured, which gradually shows the beauty of C++ and object oriented programming philosophy. The homework questions are very well written, which target the key knowledge points precisely and hence effective teach student 'by example'. The online quiz questions are well-thought too. TAs are easy to approach, respond to questions in a timely manner and are able to explain very clearly.
Vedios could be updated for new c++ features. Some useful feature like constexpr are not clearly teached
It is a wonderful course with clean structure and logic.
The course design is delicate and the contents are comprehensive. So finishing the course give me enough exposure to the understanding of C++ for quant applications. I think it should help my further development.
Was looking for a career change. This gave me a glance on finance engineering field. Worth the time and effort.
The overall course is great. The design of the HWs is perfect.
It's pretty good
This course has really rich content and has touched a lot of useful areas of C++ such as object-oriented programming, generic programming, and the use of the Boost library. Combining with many exercises, students are trained to become well acquainted with C++ programming.
The quality of this course is good enough for completely rookies in the coding world. But I do want to emphasize the homework should be more friendly for readers. Sometimes, I just don't know what should I do for some exercises, especially when I was struggling for group exercises in level 9.
The course was well structured and provided ample support through the the forums. The TA provided great feedback.
The exercises were really done, helpful, applied, and the TAs were great
I think the course absolutely hits all the C++ fundamentals. However, I think the videos could be significantly improved. There should be more practical examples when describing concepts. For example, I found a YouTube video explaining pointers by using a metaphor with cubbies (i.e. a pointer points to the cubby, not the value inside of the cubby). I think more examples like this rather than simply talking through a deck would make learning much easier. I found YouTube to be a better resource to conceptualize new concepts.
