In addition to all the math courses one has to take to be accepted into a Quant program, does one have to take some finance courses? My major is Industrial and System's Engineering, should I take a finance course?

Does a degree in MFE or it's equivalent prepare one for a career, or is it mainly academic? Or a mix of both? Thanks.
