Hey guys.. I was confused over how to distinguish whether to go for MSFE or MBA in finance, if one is looking for a career in finance... How does MS in finance/ financial er / financial maths / operations research be different than a MBA with specialization in finance.. Lets discuss this over...

I guess a lot of people have similar doubts with respect to columbias msor with Fe concentration.. since it is an expensive course , what profiles and pay should one expect .. Also this may be slightly off topic but I had this doubt... which is better mba in finance from say tier 2 b school or...

I recieved two mails from M.S. Admissions Coordinator, one stating my rejection for MSFE ( though Adina had confirmed the rejection earlier this month ) and immediately a second mail stating I'm recommended for the MSOR prog and GSS is verifying the documents. I didnt even receive any interview...

To all those who are redirected to MSOR , As per my experience last yr 1. Status on application never changed even when one was accepted for msor 2. Last yr they introduced the telephonic interviews for MSOR to judge one's interest in joining. Now, MSFE results were out nearly 10 days earlier...

Hey roni.. sorry fr the late reply.. well nt much.. just gave CFA level -1 , completed India's National stock exchnge professional level-1 and working as derivative analyst... but it seems was not enough for the large pool of applicants who applied this yr !!

I havent received any interview mail yet and my status was pending.. My last year's application was re-activated. I was offered MSOR last year but did not accept it.. I'm anxious after the discussion... any guys managed to make it through wihtout the interview??

@Connor : Thats what i had done while applying to all these universities.. I had provided a detailed list of topics under each maths course. I do understand that the desired profile for Ms Finance and MSFE is different. I felt since having a computers background and with the current job profile...
