It seems that reflection of real world and human logic and design patterns are common things of all OO languages, not limited to C++. Actually, they are underlying thoughts of OOA and OOD which revolutionize the software engineering.;)
Of course. As far as I can remember, most parts of UNIX are wrote in C. :)
That is why I added the " ".;)
However, most of these features are optional in C++ (Need extra efforts to realize) but are forced in Java. They may be frequently or seldomly used but they do cost time~
Actually, we are talking about two sides of the same coin. I guess what you mean is the path-dependence leads to the widely use of C++ in quant finance and we are trying to figure out why this specific path is successful in the quant application. Obviously, no one will take efforts using...
Of course, legacy code is a definite reason. However, does that mean without the legacy code problem, we will embrace the more recent languages (Java, C#, etc.) to implement the models? I have not yet form my own answer to this question. Can alain share some ideas on that?
I got the impression...
In my opinion, in addition to OO, C++ is fast enough to meet specific time requirement of some real-time financial applications. Or, we will turn to Java which is purely object oriented but is much slower~
Hi Chris,
It is very nice to meet another guy posting on this special forum. Greetings =D>

Hi Andy,

Dominic's questions are really important but hard to answer, because the loves and hates can shift from time to...
Yes, good advice.
I try to acquire different skills in math, finance and computer science like crazy from day one in my undergraduate years. I got a good math foundation for MFE study; I covered more than half of the CFA curriculum; and I programmed a lot. My philosophy is what makes one excel...
Thank you for your comments.
I personally view these candidacies as a kind of ambition and motivation. Every time I become a candidate, I turn it into reality.
I'm sorry that it may convey some kind of arrogance. I just pasted most info from the application materials where one's academic /...
