Acceptance Rates for MFE Programs

How much truth is behind the acceptance rates reported by schools....There are reports wherein many schools fudge their placement statistics...if they can play with those statistics, there is every chance they under-report the true acceptance rates as well just to show how selective they are..
Or are these acceptance rates verified by any third party? Can applicants really trust on what the schools report?
