Hello
Can someone please rate the following undergraduate course outlines in Computer science in Pakistan if the final target is to get into one of the top 10 MFE's in US ?
http://www.au.edu.pk/bscs_course_description.aspx
http://nu.edu.pk/Admissions/Degree/BS(CS)

There are no mathematical finance or quant related courses in Pakistan. The closest we can get is computer science (or BSc in Mathematics which obviously won't cover programming at all) and above two courses are one of the good ones available.

Secondly, what else one should do (while doing bachelors) to increase chances of admission into top MFE's ? Do courses like CQF help ? or any other advice ?

Thanks in advance

See my reply in another forum I cover this there:

But the gist is: If you are new to the field of Quant Finance and know very little on the subject then the best advaice is to not waste your money on the CQF. It wont really help you to get into quant finance, unless you tick a few key boxes i.e. if you have a top tier university name behined you and maybe a PhD - even then it is a push.

The advice I give to everyone considering the CQF is that save a bit more money and do a parttime Masters in Quant Finance, and make sure it is from a top tier university. This is your best bet to get into the field.

Focus on core skills. Try to do a project with a professor on something math-finance related that can be explained to a normal person. And keep in mind that in the US, being "interesting" can go a long way and people like to think of themselves as above just ranking applicants by using a checklist. So do whatever you need to so you can show on your application that you have a real interest in the industry, are beneficial to have around (soft skills and leadership for example), and have solid knowledge of the essentials: math, stats, cs.
