I would like to start doing algorithmic trading. I've never traded before, and I am not planning to do it tomorrow but I would like to know what I need in practice.
I will need a bloomberg account, a brokerage account and a script which works as an interface between the two, I guess.
Any help? I am curious to know in detail what sort of setup you use and how to interface everything.

thanks

depends what type of algo trading you want to do.
Bloomberg will most likely not be necessary. It is probably too expensive anyways for someone starting from nothing.
All you need is a broker that allows algorithmic interfaces such as Interactive Brokers.

What are the best brokers in UK to do this?

1. InteractiveBrokers requires £10k to open an account. Anyone knows other similar brokers requiring a smaller minimum balance?
2. Using InteractiveBrokers or similar brokers, is it possible to trade also without using algorithms, with the same account?

Try Oanda.com

Is Oanda for forex only?
