ALM a good choice of internship for gradschool xp?

My company is pretty big and they're willing to let me get mentored and perform some work in different fields while I do my undergrad math degree. My goal is to go get into the CMU MSCF or the like. Is treasury Asset liability management good for a grad school application?

ALM is pretty good. I have a couple of friends who went from ALM in banks to investment analysts in pension funds. I also had chances to talk to an MD in a pension fund and he actually said ALM is pretty strong in skills.

It's legit from my point of view, but with so many schools going early on the career side, skills / test scores might be more heavily weighted.
