Looking to apply to UCLA MFE and have a question of if it’s even feasible/worth it. I goofed off in college, and got a 2.4 gpa in economics from a state school. Got extremely lucky landing a job in front office RMBS trading/structuring and been here ~5 years. Current CFA level 3 candidate and confident I can score well on the GMAT if I study. Is that enough for a UCLA caliber program to ignore my horrendous GPA? I have confidence that I can handle the workload and math.

I was in a similar boat and got admitted to UCLA MFE. The admissions team does indeed overlook poor grades if your work achievements and overall profile stand out.

As long as your applications and LoRs clearly signal that you are not a product of your undergrad grades, you should be fine.
