Hi,

Could anyone shed light on low-cost living accomodations around CMU? Total cost of attendance, if i am not wrong, is as high as over USD 120k for its MSCF program.Thats a hell of a lot of money.

Finding affordable housing in NYC is going to be your big killer. Tuition is around 80k and if you get a scholarship you might be paying 60k-70k (sometimes less). Most people share apartments or live in cheap areas. I think the figures on the website are a little high, but pretty realistic

The $10500/semester breaks down to approx. $2600 a month, I think you can get by on less if you share a room and don't go partying too often.

If you are in NYC, I do not think that you will pay more than $112 for a monthly MetroCard plus the occasional cab/Uber ride. I have no idea why they list $1,600 a semester for transportation - I'm assuming that's for people who venture out to Chicago / Boston / San Francisco for job interviews.

How would it come up to 120k?
For full-time NYC students graduating December 2016, Tuition with no scholarships/discounts would be approximately 80k. Add NYC rent and living expenses to that, and you're pretty close to or above 120k
