I received an email about the Columbia Data Science certificate. Has anyone read into this? http://idse.columbia.edu/certification It's just 4 courses spread across 2 semesters so it is a lengthy process for just 12 credits. Does anyone think this is worth exploring?
I have a related personal question as well. I have a B.S. from Columbia, 170 Q/160 V/5.0 on GRE, a good personal statement (I hope!), but some poor grades (I graduated 7 years ago, with 3.1 overall but some stinkers in there in relevant courses). Since grades are my biggest weakness now, I'm wondering if I completed this certificate with very strong grades, if you think that would help me get into any of the Columbia programs talked about on here. Or even any other top program?
A spinoff question is whether anyone has heard of someone transferring MFE programs after a very strong first semester?
Thanks in advance and I apologize for the dual-purpose thread.
