Columbia MSOR Columbia MSOR Admission Results

It looks like they just sent out results for first group of candidates, or those who got reviewed so far.
I got interview invitation email on March 3rd, and the interview dates were between 4th and 15th. I had interview on 15th, and haven't heard back yet. I saw someone from last year who had interview on the last day and got the result on the day he had an interview, so I was hoping I get the result on 15th, but I guess I have to wait.

And, it seems like people got rejection email on 15th as well. So, I'd say you don't need to worry too much. Probably your application is still under review.

Thanks for cheering! I am getting a bit anxious because I received an email, which I did not asked, that saying 'all decision will be made by end of March,' when is coming right away. and Yes, I saw some of acceptance/rejection results on trackers, but I believe you will have good results from the program.

I did my interview on March 7 but have not heard anything yet...no ad, no rej, no waitlist... pretty wierd....maybe i'm on the waitlist of the first group ......they might be waiting for others completing interviews and see if I am lucky enough...lol

Yes I got the result on the same day of the interview. Best of luck with your application, it might be under further review.

A quick question! What is the meaning of "pending" in 'track'(That andy provide in the second floor?) Does that mean that they are holding the ad and haven't decided yet?

Though all process is backed by somehow, it seems like "THE last week" of decision is coming up soon. Good luck to everyone who still are waiting for interview offer & admission decision.

Hi! I have applied for the MS in Operations Research at Columbia in mid-November, and the last recommendation letter was submitted at the end of November. However, besides the first email which confirmed the submission of my application, I have not received ANYTHING from them since then. Is that normal? Should I contact them? Also, is there a way to track my application? The online platform where I submitted my application has not a relevant section in order to track the progress of my application. Thank you very much!

Relax! Your application has probably been compiled safely and the department is currently busy reviewing MSFE applications. You will most probably not be hearing anything from them until about mid-March.

Are you telling me that someone who applied back in September-Octomber will hear from them in March? Then what's the point of applying early if you are going to compete either way with all those guys who were redirected from the MFE to the MSOR?

I have no real idea how and when does the admission committee evaluate the applications. It might be that a decision on your application has already been taken. However, I am pretty sure that they release the decisions for all MSOR candidates together in March. Also, if the department does not specify an early admission deadline, I do not see a reason why you should expect not to be evaluated with the entire pool of MSOR candidates (including ones redirected from MFE).

I don't have a problem to be evaluated with the entire pool of MSOR, it's just that I have already seen some members of this forum who applied in early October being accepted before Christmas for the MSOR program - which means that they might release a decision before March.

I might be wrong here but the pre-Christmas admits would most probably be spring applicants who begin the program in February.

I hope I'm not duplicating someone's question, but I looked through the other threads and couldn't find anything.
Just curious if the MSOR redirect is something they offer any rejected applicant from the MSFE Program?
If not so, what are chances of admission if they've put you on some kind of a shortlist?

Thanks

I don't have all of the facts here, but I suspect it would be reasonably high, assuming there's not a second admissions fee. They don't want to waste your time- more importantly they don't want to waste the committee's time.

If you want MSOR, and they're not charging a fee, it's probably wise to write the paragraph. My suspicion here is that they don't want to give you an automatic admit and hurt their matriculation in case you were already set on another school.

Hi Golllini, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Fortunately the redirect to MSOR doesn't involve paying the application fee again.

I will definitely be writing that paragraph :)

Hi.
same situation with u. I am just wondering how many people will be redirected to the MSOR? How about the placement of the OR? And the attitude of the HR on this program?
