Hi,

Maybe this is a good forum to know people who have admits for Columbia MSOR starting fall 2014?

Also, How come there are such few admits on the tracker for MSOR this year as compared to previous years? Is Columbia reducing the class size?Any idea?

Me too ! Indian , 2.5 yrs work ex in software industry . could you please introduce yourself :)

why dont you give them a call if you have not heard from them yet?
Is it possible to forget to answer me? I think not. We're talking about Columbia. So from the moment that they have not released an answer yet, that means that there is a reason for it. Furthermore, my interview invitation came quite late. So why ask them? At some point they will decide one way or another. Asking might lead to a negative answer. Besides, there are other people as well who still wait to hear from the MSOR.

As far as I know, there are only a few admission committee member whereas there are way too many applicants for MSOR program. Maybe, this is why the application process for the program takes so long for some applicants. But, this was not true for me though. Also, a lot of people I know had received admissions more than a month ago.

As for me, I sent them an e-mail early April coz I was not hearing anything from them when there were many people here saying they already had completed the interview process. 4 days after I sent the email, I received an invitation from a grad student for an interview.

During the interview, I told my interviewer that I had received an admission from other schools and asked her directly when the final decision would be out coz I would have to pay deposit to my other alternative in 2 days. I received an admission from MSOR at the end of the interview day itself .

I do not really agree that asking would lead to a negative answer. On their website, it is clearly written that applicants would hear about admission decision from the school around late March. They are not keeping that promise for you and some other applicants. Remember that you are the buyer in this process. So, my question is why are you still not calling them and ask them to tell you what you were supposed to know a long time ago?

It is up to you what you are going to do about this. But, just know that I asked them for what I wanted to know and directly expressed my need to know about final decision ASAP and eventually got it. Good luck

And what should I ask? What is the state of my application? Wouldn't that be a little improper? I had my interview at the end of April, but I did not take the chance to ask the interviewer about the decision date. What should I say now?

I am surprised you are still asking me what you should ask. Ask what you wanna know! Ask them when they plan on letting you know of their final decision. what is so improper about that? You have been waiting long enough. Actually way too long.

If you still think it is improper for any reasons, do nothing and wait.

After all, I was trying to help you based on my experience and it is up to you what you choose to do. I really hope you would get a response from them soon.
