Overview
The Global Market Strategies Group (GMSG) is responsible for developing new alpha opportunities across global markets and asset classes through the use of rigorous quantitative methods. Our researchers are among the world's foremost experts in currency, bond, equity, and commodity markets. We share a passion for turning innovative investment ideas into superior returns for our clients.
The Commodity Research Associate will engage in econometric and statistical analysis of economic data to develop signals focusing on cross commodity and/or cross sector trading decisions.
Responsibilities
· Monitoring and reviewing existing model signals and resulting positions and changes in the portfolio
· Assist in creating new trading signals that are additive to the existing signal suite
· Daily, weekly and monthly review or portfolio performance and the drivers that caused these returns
· Perform significant statistical and econometric modeling
· Participate and represent the commodities team in intra-BGI business meetings and conference calls
Requirements
· MFE or equivalent level of econometrics and statistical analysis
· Experience and knowledge of the commodities sector, ideally within the energy industry
· Minimum of two years work experience on the buy or sell-side of financial services, ideally in commodity research
· Track record of working with and analyzing large scale data sets
· A strong understanding of Matlab
· Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively
· Effective interpersonal skills that will help foster a culture of teamwork and knowledge sharing
