Employment prospects for NYU Courant grads?

I was just accepted into NYU Courant (thank god!) and I would like to learn more about the program, specifically its career services and placement records.

This program has always been one of my top choices due to its sitting within a top research institute. For one thing, don't you want to learn deep learning from LeCun himself? And being in NYC really helps with networking.

That said, as most people would know, its employment stats were a little disappointing last year. I wouldn't be surprised if it's entirely due to some idiosyncratic factors unrelated to the quality of the program. In any case, I am very eager to learn more about the on-the-ground employment situation for Courant grads at this moment in time.

I have been reaching out to former and current MFE students in my social circle...and amazingly none of them knows anybody who has studied in Courant. That's why I writing this post, in hopes of benefiting from the collective and boundless wisdom of the quantnet community. Thanks!

I'm a dinosaur having gone there in 2005-2007. 4 of the top investment banks and 2 hedge funds came to visit us to basically pick 1 or 2 of us if we so decided to take an offer from them. You'll def get your chances to shine in interviews. It'll be up to you to come through in the clutch!
Hi Paul, thanks for sharing!

So back in the mid-2000s, about 1 or 2 people in the entire class managed to secure an IB/HF job?

In that case, what did the rest of the class end up doing?

1-2 people were given an offer from each of the 6 firms that came to campus to recruit us. That took care of about half of us from these firms. We all ended up getting employed by investment banks or hedge funds.

O wow, that's very good to know, thanks Paul! I hope it is still the same now.
