Hello All,
Do any of you have access to WRDS and know the best way to get industry type, preferably NAICS, for companies from either their CUSIPs or ticker symbols?
So far, I've tried Compustat Monthly Updates -> Security Daily and just chose to only print out the company codes and SIC and NAICS, but that only covered about 83% of the companies I had ticker symbols for.
I also tried CRSP -> CRSP/Compustat Merged -> Linking Table and that covered 84% of the companies.
In both instances I tried to join by cusip first and only got an industry type for about 50%, then did much better with ticker. But 84% is not good enough, I would think it wouldn't be too difficult to get to 100%.
