GS Strats vs Morgan Stanley SM

Can someone comment on differences in Goldman Sachs Strats and Morgan Stanley Strats and Modelling groups? Are there specific groups that are leaders in industry?

GS Strats are 'strategists' but that is just their way of saying quants. They also say HCM instead of HR amongst many other in house anagrams and abbreviations, most firms have similar things - but they usually have the same meaning or else they split devisions slightly differently but the same or similar jobs exist in both. In regard to leaders in industry I couldn't comment though.

Morgan Stanley started calling quants "strats" after a senior Goldman guy moved to Morgan and reorganized the function.

Thanks for your comments. Ken Abbott Do you know some advantages of one group (GS Strats vs MS Strats) over another? Basically I am interested if there is some advantage in starting in one place over the other?

The market is tough. Either one would be a fine place to start.
