Hi,

I am planning to apply for MFE program in 2013 and want to check on some points that can help me improve my profile ..

Graduation: B.E. in Production and Industrial Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering
Score: 68%
Internship: In an IT firm where I did statistical modelling for defects occuring in software development process
Projects: Developed a flexibility index for supply chain management using digraph approach
Workex: 2 years ; In quantitative finance team. Have developed models using VBA for trading desks and hedge funds.
Worked for index quants team which included developing, maintaining and backtesting different strategies.
Developed economics based thematic newsletter which covered different asset classes.

Certifications: Giving FRM level 1 this year.
GRE: Will be giving in August

I know my undergrad score is a major weak pt.

Could you please let me know which all colleges my profile seems suitable for and how could I improve upon in to make it worth for top colleges such as baruch, columbia etc.

Thanks a lot ..

It depends on the strength of applicant pool when and where you apply. What do you want out of a program?
A brand name that you will take back home? Good career services to help find a job? Some solid training of practical skills?
What is your plan B if things don't pan out?

If I prioritize I would say Solid training of practical concepts will be on top followed by career services and brand name .. I know everything is relative, that is, in terms of applicants every year .. but again there must be some bracket (profile terms) which can tell you if you can get through tops like columbia, baruch, nyu (the ones i aim for)

as far as its about plan B, i am currently working in quants division and continue to do so. The profile is primarily into quantitative modelling(VBA).

What i am looking forward is if you could guide me where exactly i stand nw nd what additional points(in terms of work x or educational qualifications, certifications etc) can help me crack into top 5 schools ..
