Major: Math; Actuarial Science
Minor: Computer and Information Science
GPA: 3.5/4(low......)
GRE: V144 Q170 (took it yesterday, I will retake next month)
Programming: Java, C++, COBOL, MatLab, Database management(SQLite, Java JDBC Hibernate ORM), SAS
Intern: Risk management, Audit at Big 4. PE summer analyst at a large asset management institution. IBD intern at a securities company.
Recommendation letters: 1 from intern sponsor. 1 from a CSE lecturer. 1 from a math lecturer. For the CSE professors in my school, they usually do the research instead of teaching. Especially for me, a minor student, cannot enroll in a "professor's class". I don't know if a lecturer's letter is also OK?

I know my GRE and other subjects are really poor. I will retake the GRE next month. But for my GRE score now. Is there still a chance to get an admission from a MFE( or similar ) program? For me, UCLA UChicago Columbia(MathFin) Rutgers(MathFin) NYU-POLY. Do I have the chance about these programs? Since I don't think I have any chance for other great programs.

Thank you.

Might be a good idea to improve your verbal score a bit. Your profile looks decent, but communication skill is just as important as technical knowledge. Although the GRE Verbal isn't necessarily a yardstick for your communication ability (I personally don't think it really is, and many here seem to agree), a bad score on it could nonetheless be construed as ineptitude with the language.

Thanks Hemant! I'll take the GRE again next month. It will be my weakness if the verbal is lowwww.....

Are you a native speaker or got you undergraduate degree in the us? If neither, gre verbal is your only proof of language competence. If yes, it may play a smaller role than you think.

Thanks Andy! English is not my first language but I got my undergraduate degree in United States.
