Hello,
I hope everyone is well :) I recently graduated with a bachelor of science degree in applied mathematics. I am interested in quantitative research, and was curious as to which Master's degree would be most beneficial. it is my understanding that a Master's in math/statistics/physics/computer science is most favorable for firms that require a Master's degree, but it seems that most people who work at these firms and studied those subjects have a PhD. There also seems to be a high concentration of financial engineering degrees (which make sense since those people are specifically attracted to these types of jobs). All this makes me feel like students pursuing a Master's in math/stats/physics are underrepresented. Is that by choice? Or have times changed, and a Master's in those subjects are not valued as highly anymore? I have been asking around and seem to be getting mixed responses, so I thought I would ask everyone here :)
