I'd like to bring to the attention of potential students frequenting QuantNet that the iversity MOOC platform will be offering a free online course starting January 20, 2014, focused on Monte Carlo Methods in Finance.

The course will be taught by Prof. Dr. Alberto Suárez (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) in English and has the following pre-requisites:
Basic knowledge of Calculus (integration and differentiation, Taylor series), Linear Algebra (matrices, determinants, eigenvalues and eigenvectors) and Probability (random variables, probability density and cumulative distribution functions)
, including knowledge of GNU Octave or Matlab programming.

Notice that there are no finance pre-requisites. It is also unknown whether certificates, diplomas etc. will be awarded at the end of the course. Don't signup if you'd only do it specifically to receive a diploma at the end of it.

From my estimates, several hundred students from all over the world have already signed up for this particular course.

For further information or online enrollment, please visit the course description page.

Some of the things I do and recommend my friends:
1) Take the BAT. Its free and you can take it at home. I took this test and got a score of 630 with basic finance preparation. Also, I got connection request from many employers. I think this test is highly recognized now. So, my plan is to take free courses from online websites like coursera and iversity (https://iversity.org/courses?r=efd53) and free proctored exams like BAT to show my proficiency.
