Hi everyone,
I’m a recent graduate, and I am going to join a bank next year as a mortgage quant. My role will primarily involve working with mortgage-backed securities (MBS), including RMBS, CMBS, and AMBS. My responsibilities will include data analysis and management using Python/SQL, as well as modeling in Python.
I have a few questions I’d like to seek advice on:

I have a few questions I’d like to seek advice on:
- How do you view the future prospects of the MBS asset class? Is it a growing or stable area within the financial industry?
- What are some potential career paths or development opportunities in this space? Specifically, would it be feasible to transition to the buy side from this role?
- If I decide to shift focus in the future, is it common for professionals in the MBS space to move into other asset classes? If so, which ones?
