number of CMU graduate

Just overheard the hiring manager stepped out of his office and told us that, he got over 500 resumes so far after we posted the openning for 2-years analyst/associate program in Market Risk Dept.

He said, "guess how many resumes from CMU? "------- ~200!

Just curious, how many graduate students they have this year.

We are screening resumes now.....quite diversified backgrounds

I guess CMU guys are not having too many opportunities these days. I bet many of them are questioning their 100k contribution to the program. Don't know why CMU is so expensive even though they are not the top ranked program.

Actually, they are among the top ranked programs

I think every one sends out resumes. Their placement rate is in the high 90th percentile so they are fine. all the 200 will find something not necessarily that particular job

US News ranking for CMU is:
Business school - 15
Math department is not even within top 24, Finance is not within top 10.

About H1B, that I am not sure. Have to get update from HR.

A MFE ranking has nothing much to do with the B-School ranking / Math ranking (or weakly correlated at most). Havard has a top B-school, but its MFE ranking is .... there isn't a MFE at harvard. Also, as a MFE student, you are not trying to be a professor at B-school or Math dept.
