Hi everyone,
I’m currently deciding between NYU’s Mathematics in Finance, Cornell Tech’s M.Eng. in ORIE ( NYC campus), and UChicago’s MCAM program and would love to hear any insights from the QuantNet community.
A bit about my background: I am graduating from a Top 20 U.S. university with a double major in Economics & Mathematics and Computer Science, along with a Master’s in Economics (focused on econometrics). Initially, I was set on a finance-focused career, but I am now open to broader opportunities in areas like machine learning, data science, and quantitative research, beyond just finance.
I also received an interview for CMU MSCF but didn’t make it, likely due to my strong research background but lack of corporate internship experience. I realize this might be a gap in my resume, so I’d appreciate any thoughts on how this might impact job prospects post-graduation for each of these programs.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has attended or considered these programs—especially in terms of placement, curriculum rigor, and flexibility for roles beyond traditional quant finance.
A huge thank you to the QuantNet community for being such a valuable resource throughout this journey! A very special shoutout to Andy Nguyen for maintaining this amazing platform and for all the support and advice during the challenging application and results season.
Looking forward to your insights, and thanks in advance!
