Do there exist many entry-level opportunities for quants in France (Paris)? By looking at the career of former students from my university who turned quants, it seems all of them invariably started their career either in London or New York... Is it only explained by the better salary prospects and the total number of available positions, or is the required experience also part of the explanation? That is, can we say there are many opportunities for junior quants in London or the US, whereas the positions in France are typically "reserved" for the experienced ones? What about the situation of the job market in other countries of continental Europe (e.g. Germany and Switzerland)?
