Parttime MFE then internship?

If I were do a parttime MFE (while working fulltime in IT for a bank).. will I be eligible to apply for internships which doing the MFE? Associate quant internships at the big BB's..
(And yes I'd be willing to quit my fulltime job and go for the 10 week internship if it gives me a chance to become a quant)

This is assuming I can't get a fulltime quant job directly.
I am just wondering if (a) this route is possible and (b) if anyone has done it before

It's possible, but I think you'll run into difficult-to-address-and-not-so-obvious obstacles, such as recruiters ignoring your resume because you work full time.
