Hi all,

So far, I have been accepted to Princeton's master in finance program and have had interviews with MIT's Master in Finance and Columbia's Master in Financial Economics program which is a relatively new program run by the business school. I was wondering, which of these do you guys think would be the best program to attend in terms of job placement? I am a math-statistics undergrad major at Columbia and have had a hard time getting jobs and internships, usually for lack of finance experience.

Thanks!

Go for Princeton. In my opinion, that's the best corporate finance program out there.

I know quite a few people who managed to get internships as math/statistics undergrads at Ivies-- so if you didn't, I'm inclined to believe that your problem wasn't merely just a lack of a fancy (and expensive) graduate degree. Did you interview for internships, and if so, did you request feedback on why you didn't receive an offer?

Hi CasanovaJ. Yes, I did interview for several internships, but like I said, the most common feedback was not having enough finance experience. They chose economics majors over math/stat majors for this reason.

it is interesting that ppl here like Princeton more. what is wrong with Columbia business school program? i feel that the two programs have very marginal differences. i like Columbia more because of the location.

I think it's because Columbia's Master in financial economics is a newer program so it hasn't established as much of a reputation yet
