Hi all the computer scientists out there. I am trying to improve my skills in computer science and get a self-studied or distance higher education qulification in CS. After some doing searching, I found the Professional Graduate Diploma in IT offered by the British Computer Society. Some details and syllabus can be found here
http://www.bcs.org/category/5731

This programme is self-described as 'Higher Education Qualifications are the "gold standard" set of internationally recognised IT qualifications.' and it should be an 'academic equivalent of a UK university honours degree.'

After looking through the syllabus, I can see it is very challenging and should teach me the things I need to know about computer science. But I was wondering has anyone heard of this qulification? How much does it stand out if you read it on someone's CV?

Yes, I know of it. As the BCS claims, the standard is equivalent to that of a British university honours degree.

That's the rub. Outside of Britain it will probably not have much traction.

Also there is graduate diploma in statistic offered by the Royal Statistic Society for my statistical skill set. Any heard of that one?
The major advantage of these graduate diplomas from learned society is that I get to study for them by myself at my own pace without regsitering for a full time course in a university. The skills and knowledge can be obtain through studying are valuable, but I want to know are they really recognised and respected, nationally and internationally as they claim to be.
