I’m considering applying to some top U.S. financial engineering master’s programs as an international applicant, but I’m unsure if my background is sufficient or if I should take more college courses and/or work experience (especially math).

Academics:
  • GPA: 8.3/10
  • Graduated from the top 1 finance master in my country (Finance major with data analytics courses and a quant climate risk thesis)
  • Undergraduate: Economics major
  • Math background: Probability theory, single and multivariable calculus, econometrics, but no dedicated linear algebra course.
  • rest (as in programming and stats) I have covered already.
Work Experience (12 months total):
  • Current: Data science intern at an investment fund
  • Previous internships: one in quant risk modeling and one as an analyst at a family office.
Planning to take the GRE in jan but haven't done a full mock yet.
