Hello,

Can seniors in the forum kindly evaluate my profile. (Since I found the master thread on profile evaluation inactive, I am posting my own thread. Hope its ok)

Under Grad:
Msc(5ys) in Computer science from a Top 10 Engineering college in India
CGPA - 9.02/10
Spoj Coder with a decent personal best rank
Awarded Gold Medal, Best Outgoing student award
Co-founded a student society called 'Math computing society' for my dept

Grad:
Postgraduate Diploma in management from IIMB (Indian equivalent of MBA from B-school ranked No.2)
Majored in Finance (CGPA took a major hit 2.xx/4.0 - To give some perspective, this is an institute in India which is highly regarded and competitive with acceptance rate of 0.015% , I had to compete with CFA L3 I-banking analysts etc... I did slack off after getting admitted into the program ( I know... Excuses! Excuses !)
Internship at UBS at their FX Options desk

Work Experience - 2 years
Trade finance Analyst at a physical commodities trading firm in Switzerland

GRE : 800 Quant, 700 Verbal
Toefl: 108

I understand that MFE programs would look for a straight A's candidate, and that with my embarrassingly low CGPA I need to set realistic expectations on my admit chances.

I need your help in assessing my profile for the programs that I will be applying to.

1) Baruch MFE
2) NYU Poly- MFE
3) UCLA - MFE
4)U. Wash CFRM program
5) Columbia MSOR

Would be really appreciative if someone could take a few minutes off and provide their two cents.

Thanks in advance,
Bharathi

Hi Bharathi

I cannot gauge your chances of getting into a particular program but being from IIMB you should really aim for the top colleges. Low GPA can be explained and compensated by work-ex. Also, i think your programming and math grades would matter more and you seem to have done really well there.

<breath of relief>
Thanks a lot for the positive words Utkarsh.
I am also considering top programs, but honestly unable to judge my profile among the generic pool.

Tks again & All the very best
