If you were to get a job as a quant researcher at one of the big sell side banks, can you progress into more senior roles with only a master's? Or do you need a PhD?

Once you get into any position your in. From there on your performance is the only thing that matters + some politics

I imagine a PhD just mostly means 2-3 more years of (a slightly different kind of) experience
