Hello!
Does anyone know salary and bonus per ranking (Associate, VP, etc) for Quant Risk jobs?
Also, how fast do you progress from analyst to associate to avp, vp, etc?
thanks!
Having worked in Fintech, risk IT, client services, and S&T I can tell you that in pretty much every role in finance:
If you don't get fired in your first two years you'll likely get promoted to associate
If you do a good job for the next three years you'll likely get promoted to VP
After this, it's all up to you. I've seen VPs in risk who haven't progressed to director for 15 years. I've seen a VP make director in risk, S&T, and equity research in just two years (incredible!). The key from moving from VP to director seems to be much more about visibility than the previous progressions.
Until director you really just have to do a good job. To make director+ you have to be a name that every team globally recognizes and has benefited from.
